What Susanna McIntyre Implored Me To Tell You
... about her friend imprisoned in Iran
Today, Susanna McIntyre joined us in Armin Navabi’s daily Liberty Politics Discussion and implored us passionately to tell the world about her imprisoned friend:
URGENT | PLEASE SHARE
Our 28-year-old daughter #venoushosseinnejad has been detained for 19 days by Iranian security forces. For the first 15 days, we had no information about where she was held. No warrant. No explanation. No access.
She was abducted at her workplace by plainclothes agents, filmed, and taken to an unknown location. We later learned she was arrested by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Intelligence Organization.
She suffers from Bipolar Disorder and has been under medical treatment for 12 years. She requires psychiatric care. Instead, she has endured severe physical and psychological pressure.
In tearful phone calls—strictly monitored and only minutes long—she told us she was forced to “cooperate” to survive. That “cooperation” was a coerced, false confession.
Last night, we watched our daughter’s forced confession broadcast on national television by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (Channel 2, 8:30 PM news)—fabricated to falsely link detainees to protests, arson, and foreign governments.
Her life is in immediate danger.
This is not justice. This is coercion.
We are begging the world: do not look away.
Please share, tag journalists, human rights organizations, and international bodies.
Silence is what puts lives at risk.

Forced confessions under pressure are such a horrific violation - particularly when someone with Bipolar Disorder is denied proper medical treatment. The tactic of fabricating links to arson and protests to justify detention is depresingly common in authoritarian contexts. Ive followed similar cases where coerced televised confessions are used as propaganda tools. The family's plea deserves amplification. Thanks for using your platfrom to raise awareness about Venous's situation
