Let’s assume for the sake of argument that Stronach is guilty. Not to ‘believe victims’, but because, in a parallel world where Stronach is innocent, my argument would only be stronger:
The only explanation of the timing of Stronach’s charges is that he broke ranks with the rich.
How so? Let me explain:
Stronach proposed that profit-sharing be mandated by law for companies larger than 300 employees.
Yes, you read that right, he’s a dirty socialist, and somehow slipped through the usual Toronto media blackout endured by, for example, The Socialist Alliance — such pages normally refuse to platform anything that financially threatens the ruling class.
Here’s how I just explained it to a friend in the Socialist Alliance’s group chat:

it's like I found a loophole in the labor theory of value -- I'm technically not a capitalist but I'm also not a wage slave any more!

How much money would such a novel precedent cost the ruling class? A good chunk of everything forever. That is what’s at stake in our fight against corporatocracy—that corporations serve shareholders and neither workers nor citizens is the very problem of our time, so fight for multistakeholder cooperatives today and consider how much money Stronach’s guilt will save the rich.
Meanwhile, I suspect there are similarly guilty major capitalists going unpunished, don’t you think?
For more about cooperatives see all the resources linked to in my recent article on worker management:
