ARTS PLATFORM 0.1:
- Put basic needs first in the budget, which includes citizen free time to be creative
- Maintain a proper city calendar of all public events
- Maintain a city database of public event spaces
- Fund artist residencies in parks and in more libraries
- Allow communal housing
- More city-level arts grants
- Subsidize local arts education through community centres and private instruction, mentorships and apprenticeships
- Ensure neighbourhoods have sufficient spaces for dance and healthy movement "Stagnation is one thing that kills the soul"
- Expand arts programs for low-income children, and in schools, which have been slashed dramatically in recent years
- End first-come first-serve for city programs, introduce equity-based priority for eg: single parents
- LOCAL MUSIC PROMOTION SUBSIDY
- More all-ages music spaces
- END BUSKING LICENES "busking is part of the heart beat of the city and when I travel to other cities that is one of my favourite joys. It being restricted here makes Toronto seem dead."
- ELIMINATE THE OPPRESSIVE AUDITION PROCESS FOR THE TTC WHICH TAKES YEARS, BE LIKE MONTREAL
- NO DOOR COVER ON PUBLICLY FUNDED EVENTS
- LIVING-WAGE LIVE MUSIC SUBSIDY & TAX
- Tax-free live music subsidy fee on each bill, city and citizen both fund live music
- FUND PUBLIC PIANOS (You'll run into me at many of them!)
- GRANTS FOR HOMEOWNERS TO HAVE THEIR LANEWAY GARAGES PAINTED
- LIMIT PUBLIC FUNDING OF LARGE PROJECTS SO MORE ARTISTS RECIEVE FUNDING
- DRIVE TOURISM WITH LOCAL ART
- AFFORDABLE 24/7 REHEARSHAL SPACES, MUSIC SPACES
- GRANT EVENT PERMITS BY DEFAULT, PUBLISH JUSTIFICATIONS FOR ALL DENIALS FOR THE MEDIA TO INSPECT
- OPEN MIC SUBSIDY: extra funds for venues which permit any citizen to perform
- EQUITY-BASED MICROGRANTS for ongoing costs: instrument maintenance, art supplies, rehearshal time, creative space rental--mere poverty is sufficient to qualify
